   Revising my previous interpretation:
   
   I see the song as being about how blindly society will follow people no matter what, regardless of whether or not they even agree with what is happening. "Asphyxiating with a smile on your face" and the pre-chorus are two of the key players in that assessment, as well as obviously the chorus. I believe it also goes at least to the surface on the lies these people tell their followers with the line "Nobody loves you like I love you..." I've read that the song is about a cult leader, and everything I said can be applied to a cult leader, but I think there are more real-life implications than people talk about. And with these implications come the people who are pointing it out, and they are hated for it, "We are the children of devolution, the infamous martyrs." In summation, people are sheep and will graze whatever grass grows in front of them, and if they don't, they are slaughtered.
