John Mayer: Assassin Meaning
Assassin Lyrics
When the roads are quiet, no one is around
To track my moves, racing the yellow lights
To find the gate is open, she's waiting in the room
I just step on through
You get in, you get done and then you get...

This song is such a great song.
The song really has no correlation to the idea of an assassin or hired work. It is a way that John tells a story about how usually a guy will sleep around, and will "work in the dead of night". Girls would fall in love with him, but he would break their hearts because he wasn't looking for love.
Low and behold, he meets a girl who he intends on doing the same with, but something is different with this girl, and he falls in love with her, finding out that she is the same as him, but only female. It is the scorn and pain he felt that made the song such a powerful force. Because at the end John Mayer just makes it seem as though the rest of his life he will just be the way he is, because of this situation
