Owl City: Dreams Don't Turn To Dust Meaning
Dreams Don't Turn To Dust Lyrics
Into a deep dramatic scene
I swim through the theater
Or maybe I'm just a dreamer
Like a kite in the bright midday
Wonder stole my breath away
Shy sonata for Mercury
The stars always sing so pretty
This...

I think that Adam's basically
just saying to never let go of your dreams, though the interpretation is pretty obvious. ;D -
"I swim through the theater
Or maybe I'm just a dreamer"
He's saying that maybe it's just a fantasy that he's chasing, but he's going to go for it anyway.
"This picnic will soon depart
Real life, I'm sad to see you go
I'll miss you with all my heart
But I'd rather be alone" The easy part is over, and he's leaving his normal life for something better. He'll miss his past, but he'd rather pursue his dream than spend life doing nothing.
"So I'll drag the anchor up
And rest assured, 'cause dreams don't turn to dust"
He's going to stop being idle, and start believing in himself.
"I made for the countryside
And my eyes never grew so wide" He's made the first step, and realizes that it was a good decison to follow his dream.
"Apple raspberry river blue
I don't wanna leave without you
In the sound I gladly drowned
Into the emerald underground
I rub my eyes 'cause it's hard to see
Surrounded by all this beauty"
He did leave a life behind, but it's worth it.
"When tiger eyes begin making you blush
When diamonds boast that they can't be crushed
Let them go cause dreams don't turn to dust"
Tiger eyes could be an allusion to "Eye of the Tiger", which partially is about not giving up, be it for money or anything else.
"Dreams don't turn to dust
And rest assured, 'cause dreams don't turn to dust"
Follow your dreams, because you can and will achieve them.
