The Black Keys: Lonely Boy Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Lonely Boy Lyrics
But I came to love you anyway.
So you pulled my heart out and I don't mind bleeding,
Any old time you keep me waiting, waiting, waiting.
Oh, oh, oh oh! I got a love that keeps me waiting.
Oh, oh...
-
My interpretation of this song is that he's hung up on a girl, the lyrics state this when it says "Well I’m so above you
And it’s plain to see
But I came to love you anyway".
We can take a little more initiative than that and say that she doesn't feel the same way by the fact that she keeps him waiting in the first place, or that she felt the same, but then changed her mind suddenly and for an unknown reason
"So you pulled my heart out
And I don’t mind bleeding".
He knows he should just move on,
"Well your mama kept you but your daddy left you
And I should’ve done you just the same".
However he just cant bring himself to do it as we see in the very next line
"But I came to love you
Am I born to bleed?".
Now this is just my own opinion, and I understand its not the only one, so if you have a different one please post it!
