The Isley Brothers: Twist and Shout Meaning
Song Released: 1962
Covered By: Beatles (1963)
Twist and Shout Lyrics
-
They want to dance with a bunch of b*tches that they all find attractive and want to dance with.lolololololololololololololololololololololololol
-
It is a classic rock'n'roll cover by the beatles, I believe this one is originally written by Chuck Berry. What do you expect someone as famous as the Beatles resorting to covers to get famous in 6 years wereas people that do album after album of orginal songs are struggling to make it on the charts.
Beatles more like the bitch boys. -
It's about the way they dance back in time. And maybe wild sex.
-
I do not believe the Beatles were the original writers of Twist and Shout. Bert Berns, an American wrote it. The Top Notes sang/and or recorded it in 1961. As did the Isley Brothers in 1962. Probably, no one could sing it like John Lennon--watch the Beatles Anthology for more "input" from Paul, George & Ringo about John singing Twist and Shout, especially when they performed it for the Queen + Royalty. The movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off has a very good "Chicago" tribute to the Beatle's Twist and Shout.

Someone's really uncomfortable and therefore twisting and shouting?
-
Quite a sexual song, "shake it up baby now", "twist a little closer now", "let me know that you're mine" are all quite suggestive lyrics, and that is the meaning of the song.
-
Masturbation.
-
Another one of their nonsense songs. I'm sure they knew it was gonna be a hit.
-
Pretty self explanatory...
-
DAMNED GOOD DANCE SONG. COMBINES THE ENERGIES OF "SHOUT" ISLEY bROTHERS, with The Twisr, Universal Dance, Chubby Checker.
-
You people must be stupid if you don't know what this song is about. You people ever heard of "the twist"? It was a popular dance in the 60s! TWIST and shout! It's clearly meant for a dancing tune.

The song is about Paul having constipation, and taking a laxative to "work it on out", shake it up baby, means preparing the medication, you look so good, you look so fine, is Paul anticipating the relief of his bowel movement, and the climax is the melodic aaah, aaaaah, aaaaaaah, yyyeeeooowww! scream at the end denoting relief. How could anyone miss this?
