Beastie Boys: Fight For Your Right Meaning
Song Released: 1987
Fight For Your Right Lyrics
You wake up late for school man you don't wanna go
You ask you mom, "Please?" but she still says, "No!"
You missed two classes and no homework
But your teacher preaches class like you're some kind of jerk
You gotta fight for...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:Nope. This song is supposed to be a parody of actual teenage party anthems like "Smoking in the Boys Room.
They said themselves that it seems funny for them to see people that are wasted at their concerts, screaming the words, and completley missing the point.
It's about how teenagers have a buttload of Angst.
But, If you don't know this, then heck yeah, its about FIGHTING FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY! -
Well, Rebellious against authority. I get that all teenagers rebel against their parents. But, the thing with this song, they want to have rights, they want to be free and live their lives. You can't do anything as a kid. no rights at all. We have to fight for our right
-
An anthem for teenage rebellion surrounded by the hypocrisy and relentless nagging of their parents.
-
Yes, I think it's about the whole "parents controlling me thing", but did anyone ever think that it was about parents being jelous because they no longer have their youth?" momma busted in adn said whats that noise, mommy just jealous it's the Beastie boys!" Jealous!!! and then "your pops caught you smoking and he said no way! that hippocrit smokes two packs a day!" I dunno either interpretation makes sense to me.
-
(To the above interpretation) They're saying "party" not "potty" and it's about not understanding all the adults telling you how to live your life.
-
This song is about true primal youth rebellion. It's about being two years old and your bitch mom figuring she has dominion over your own bodily functions just because you ain't figured out the mechanics of using a toilet yet, and you need to go bad, but the bitch is too busy to take you to the shitter right now, so you just let your load loose right on the floor, then you reach down, grab up a nice chunk, and throw it in her face, yelling, "you gotta fight, for your right, to po-o-o-o-o-otty!!!"
obviously. -
I think that the song is about drugs, drinking, and having sex.
