Let It Be Lyrics

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let...

I am a Catholic Priest (75 years of age). I just watched the Ken Burns documentary on the Vietnam War. It was well done and very enlightening. I was stunned that he chose the Beatle's song "Let It Be" to close the well-done episodes. It brought back a powerful memory to me. In my first year of priesthood (1969) a woman came to see me. Her son had been killed in Vietnam the year before. She had been to every other priest in the parish before me seeking comfort and peace. She was bitter and angry and no words or counsel that I gave her had any effect. Finally, the thought came to me of a statue we had in the Church (a replica of Michaelangelo's Pieta - Our Blessed Mother holding the dead body of her son Jesus). I asked her to go over to the Church and just be before the statue. Evidently, she did this, because she took me aside at a parish social a few weeks later. She held me by my elbows and looked up to my face. She smiled and said: "I just want you to know that I am at peace". You could see it in her face. I was moved to tears and we embraced. When she went into our Church and sat before the "Pieta", I know that one mother's heart spoke to another mother's heart and whispered words of Wisdom "Let It Be". Thank you Ken Burns for your documentary and for choosing such a meaningful song to conclude it.

PAUL circa-1994: "One night during this tense time I had a dream I saw my mum, who'd been dead ten years or so. And it was great to see her because that's a wonderful thing about dreams, you actually are reunited with that person for a second... In the dream she said, 'It'll be alright.' I'm not sure if she used the words 'Let it be' but that was the gist of her advice, it was 'Don't worry too much, it will turn out okay.' It was such a sweet dream I woke up thinking, 'Oh, it was really great to visit with her again.' I felt very blessed to have that dream."

I know the song is about one of the band member's deceased mother. But every time I hear this song, (no matter which version) I can't help but think this song is about the Blessed Mother and how we shouldn't worry about sinful current events because the victory has already been won thanks to the death and resurection of Jesus Christ (Oh and if you're wondering, yes I'm Catholic.)

If there's problem's in your life, and you're unable to figure them out, let it go and let your Higher self (The better angel) handle it.

This song is a great song in which the message is to find light in the darkness.

The song, to me, represents the feeling that the writer, Paul or Faul McCartney, was feeling or letting everyone know that even if the real Paul was killed or replaced by William Campbell Shears, just let it be, do not dig to deep, the truth will come out sooner or later, even after our generation is gone. That conspiracy or not (about him), He is a great composer and singer who somehow have made us all sing, cry, think, fall in love and so many other things.

Always loved this song by Paul with the Beatles growing up that inspired and comforted me thinking of Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus for words of wisdom. Even though i was never quite a Catholic back then, but the closest i came in being, being also a dieheart Cat Stevens fan on The Way in believing i was becoming a holy cat in my faith as a believer.

Paul says it is about his mother and the phrase Let it be is what she, like all northern mothers would say to arguing kids 'Will you two just let it be'

The title is pretty much self explanatory.

    When you:
•Find yourself in times of trouble
•See the broken hearted people living in the world agreeing that there'll be an answer
•Notice that the night is cloudy but there's still a light that shines on you
•and see Mother Mary speaking words of wisdom...

    Let it be.

I also think that whoever wrote this song is going silly in the head and he just leaves it alone to be safe.

The song gives us different scenarios of problems affecting us as people, and comforts us that no matter what the problem maybe affecting you, there is a solution to it. Therefore, we should not dispair.

I just think like someone said, no way if my mother was name mary i would call her mother mary. So i think this most have been for the virgin mary and paul just did not want to asummed responsabilities.

I like to think part of it was to their fans about their split.

"For though they may be parted
there is still a chance that they will see
    there will be an answer
    Let it Be"

I've heard a few theories and the magic IS that you can take from it what you will.
