Jessie J: Price Tag Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Price Tag Lyrics
Okay,
Coconut man, moon-heads and me,
You ready?
Seems like everybody's got a price,
I wonder how they sleep at night,
When the sale comes first and the truth come second,
Just stop for a minute and smile.
Why is...

#1 top rated interpretation:life isn’t all about the glamour, money, fame and fortune. And over time everyone has forgotten about the true meaning of life. How we should celebrate each other, and our differences. We always go back to classifying each other as rich and poor, black or white, but at the end of the day it doesn’t mater. The artist is trying to tell us that we put a price on everything, and we forget about what really matters, we worry to much about what other people think and we get carried away, so we don’t enjoy life anymore, we put our selves through this misery and we can choose to stop right now forget about the past

#2 top rated interpretation:Marcuse is a political critic and philosopher whose primary concern is to develop a critical theory of society that aims at liberating the individual from any form of social control and domination.
Capitalism and consumerism play a very dominating role in the society, that it requires humanity’s total submission under its system. Marcuse emphasizes that in the modern era, in consumption we are not aware of our genuine needs and interest, and we usually have the inclination to accept needs imposed upon us by commercials. Hence, our needs and interest are shaped by technological rationality, which creates a false consciousness by enforcing a certain lifestyle upon us without opening up a space for our own choices. Thus it is reflected on the lyrics of the song “Seems like everybody's got a price I wonder how they sleep at night when the sale comes first and the truth comes second.”
Capitalism provides us with false needs and does it require us to exert more labor in order to gain more income and in effect to it, there is only a little amount of energy discharged on intellectual, physical and sexual activity which is made possible through the bond of the sacrament of marriage. It can be related to the lyrics in the song which goes like this “Why is everybody so serious acting so damn mysterious… that you can't even have a good time.”
Speeding in one’s car, using Ipods, tablets, and laptops which provide a handy comfort entertainment, and watching movies in 3D cinemas were all fun. But the fun was purchased at a high price namely the need to work ever longer and harder to provide the means to buy these goods. In the end, Marcuse said the result of rampart consumerism would be increased mental illness and environmental degradation.
“Why are we so obsessed money can’t buy us happiness”
In its Official Music Video in “youtube” Jessie J (the singer) in one of its scene, she portrayed as Marionette (a puppet moved by strings) symbolized being controlled. Our obsession to money, to acquire more wealth in order to buy things which are not necessary or the so called false needs is rooted in consumerism. We are being controlled and slave by the prevailing social standard.
“Everybody looks to their left, everybody looks to their right”
The lyrics in the chorus argued that we have to develop a wider perspective and critical thinking in dealing with the present situations. Marcuse also proposed that we should abolished one-dimensional thought, namely technological rationality. For Marcuse, emancipation negates the prevailing social order characterized by technological domination and consumerism. By critical thinking, this means the rejection or reversal of that which strongly prevails. Critical thinking emancipates us, and thus enables us to distinguish our genuine needs from the false needs imposed to us. And in so doing we will be able to break free from the chains of consumerism.
“It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag”
To conclude, if we are able to emancipate ourselves from the enslavement of modernity and consumerism then we enjoy and live life to the fullest. Moreover, if transcend our obsession to money then we will be able to forget the “Price Tags” of things and make the world dance. JLD

#3 top rated interpretation:Money is not the most important thing in our life. However, nowadays people just concern about money. We all put a price on everything and we had forgotten the real meaning and matters of the things.
The artist wrote this song to tell us we should not focus on money; we have to get rid of the price tags and do not be controlled by money. -
It Means money is not the key, to happiness, so it does´nt matter if your rich or poor. You just need to be healthy.
-
This song says that money can't buy happiness but happiness comes when we help each other or how the song says 'dance' no matter what.
-
I know and others that money can't buy happiness, but money can buy everything to fulfill hadinned unless if you love it all matters of what you have in life, but love can't buy.

It doesn't matter if you're rich, poor, what clothes you wear, what cars you drive. And, people these days just care about wealth and riches and they judge people for that. Jessie J is trying make the point that these things don't matter. It's just about love and friendship, that we are all equal and not to judge people.
-
Life isn't about money and fame money can't buy us happiness and love we can't buy everything with money you don't need money to be happy we should just appreciate what we have and not think about what we don't
-
song tells about people who always mind about price tags. Money can buy everything, and thats right, but hapiness and real beauty and relationship to others cant even buy...

This song is about how living a life in luxury does not beat living a life full of fun and love. It points out how money does not buy love, in the similar manner of the Beatles did with their song "Can't buy me love". It also makes a point on people in society trying to be fake instead of keeping it real "and your heels so high that you can't even have a good time". THe main message is "keep it real" and "money can't buy happiness"

..actually its about a person was sold by some people his soul to demons because of jealousy.. "when the sale comes 1st and the truth comes 2nd.." this line is so meaningful.. the person who is victim of this witchcraft will know in the end that he was the victim.. but of course after that he had left nothing by these sorcerers.. but these sorcerers has consequences, in the end they will become miserable too.. i have funny interpretation.. like sorcerers do, watching these "lowblows" so hairy HHMMMM.. :-D
-
Sad to say this, but I found out it is actually about mind-control.
It's not about the money, money, money
WE DON'T NEED YOUR MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
Who do you think 'we' is? 'They' are trying to get your attention! She is trying to portray how the music industry doesn't care about the money coming in, but instead, about how they're controlling the minds of listeners.
If you watch the music video, there are also VERY, VERY strong meanings of some items in the video, such as the bear at the starting with only one eye and a limb ripped off. Find out the meanings.
I know it's hard for fans to believe, but this is everywhere and you need to watch out. -
This song is about the music bussiness nowadays. Music nowadays is commercial, people write songs for the money, and this song is saying that it's about the love put into the music and not about the money, success, fame it will bring. It's about the music, not the price tag
