Ozzy Osbourne: Suicide Solution Meaning
Suicide Solution Lyrics
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle and drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
Evil thoughts and evil doings
Cold, alone you hang in ruins
Thought that you'd escape the reaper
You can't...
-
Your killing yourself to live

Ozzy Osbourne Has Said That "Suicide Solution" Is About The Alcohol-Related Death Of His Friend, AC/DC Lead Vocalist Bon Scott In 1980, But Bassist And Lyricist Bob Daisley Revealed In 2002 That He Had Osbourne Himself In Mind When He Composed The Lyrics. Most Likely The Song's Title Is Not A Reference To Suicide As Being A Solution To Anything, But Rather It's A Reference To Alcohol (As A Liquid Substance) Being A "Solution Of Suicide" In The Same Sense As "Solution Of Hydrogen Peroxide". As The Word "Solution" Has Multiple Meanings, The Definition Intended For This Context Is As Follows, Based On The Definition Provided For "Solution" Which Appears In Webster's Dictionary, Etc.

Bob Daisley, who played bass guitar for Ozzy Osbourne and claims to have written the majority of the lyrics (If not all of them) during his stretch in Ozzy's band stated:
“Ozzy has often said that he wrote Suicide Solution about Bon Scott, AC/DC's singer but first and foremost Ozzy didn't write it, I did. Bon Scott was a good friend of mine, I would be the first to say if it had been written about him.” -
The song is about Bon Scott of AC-DC dieing from too much alcohol. I got this from Ozzy himself. He said he could remember alot of rockers dieing from the abuse they were doing to themselves.
-
Ozzy Osbourne claimed it was about Bon Scott, but he did not write most of it. The first part with the guitar riff was created when he listend to Randy tune his guitar. But the rest was written by Gezzer Buttler when they were with Sabbath. That is why there is a cool bass riff, in this song. It was intended to be about suicide, but Ozzy might of changed it up some bit to not sound so disturbing. "Breaking laws, knocking doors but there's knowone at home". It is a mix of both, and how they play together. Drinking can lead to people to want to die by suicide.
-
now I remember hearing that there was a bit of a controversy over this song when it came out, Parents thought Ozzy was incurring suicide as the solution.
If people did there research it's about Bon Scott. -
This song is about Bon Scott's death due to alcohol.
-
Pendragon is totally right. Ozzy did fear dying like his friend did and thought that abusing alcohol was just like suicide. And it was a tribute to Bon Scott.
Also this song has had some controversy, because in the 80s Ozzy was taken to court by parents, whose son shot himself in the head while listening to this song. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
It has been well stated that original band member Bob Daisley wrote all the lyrics from "Blizzard" to "Wicked." Much like Geezer Butler wrote all the lyrics to Sabbath. SO, interestingly, both "Suicide Solution" and "Demon Alcohol", whilst recorded 7 years apart, have the same lyricist behind them. Ozzy is well renowned as a pisshead. Was Bob?? And regardless, if Suicide Solution did cause Ozzy to be stupidly imprisoned for "inciting suicide", how much would Bob Daisley be responsible? Love you Bob, love you Ozzy, keep on rockin'! ((Free plug: Check out "Living Loud" its a CD that features Daisley, Lee Kerslake, Don Airey, Steve Morse and Jimmy "Cold Chisel" Barnes doing a few originals must mostly Songs from the Ozzy "Blizzard" and "Diary albums"
