Rammstein: Reise, Reise Meaning
Reise, Reise Lyrics
Wo Fisch und Fleisch zur See geflochten
Der eine sticht die Lanz' im Heer
Der andere wirft sie in das Meer
Ahoi
Reise, reise, Seemann reise
Jeder tut's auf seine Weise
Der eine stößt den Speer zum Mann
Der andere...

#1 top rated interpretation:Sorry,
I`m from germany and, in my opinion, i must say, that is also very difficult to understand rammstein lyrics.
There are a lot of different interpretations. My favorite is, our wasteful colloquial with the nature while we fight against our own self in war. Because of Songs like "Amerika" i also thing that this song is aspecially against the american ecopolitic. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think the song is pointing out the differnces between a seaman and a soldier. The sailor catches fish, gathers food, actually helps towards sustaining society. The soldier kills other people and is actually destroying society.
I think both the soldier and the seaman are not two different people. They're two different ways of thinking and acting evebody has, and the song calls upon it's listeners to let their seaman arise. To help building and sustaining our world, instead of destroying it like the soldier. -
Given the maritime ambiance created by the accordian or hurdy-gurdy, whichever it may be, and the sound of waves breaking on the shore with the seagull vocalizations on intro, this obviously is a song that has something to do with north atlantic seafaring. Then when one follows the lyrics while using some adult intelect and a dose of historical knowledge, this song will "take you away" on "a voyage" to the bridge of a Type-VII Unterseeboot, the allusions to u-boat service are in every stanza. In a simplified and summarized form, "Reise,Reise" is a tribute to u-boat service and the sacrifice of those that "gave their blood to the sea" in both the Imperial German Navy and Kriegsmarine. This song is a masterpiece of musical imagery and lyrical technique.

I think this song tends to show how this hunt in the middle of the sea can be as evil as the war. The sailor has to face his enemy which is the sea that can be so wicked as an army. And just like a soldier must to do, the sailor has to keep going back to the sea to seek his prey to get some peace of mind - when what he is truly doing is killing thousands of lives (sea animals, murdered with harpoons, for example) for a "good reason".

This song is about sex/sexual preferences. "Speer" = penis, "Fisch" = vagina, "Mann" = men.
Everyone does it his own way, some stick it in men, others stick it in women -
I think its about the equal usefulness of the soldier, to kill and destroy when necessary and the fisherman to catch fish and provide food and life when necessary
