Third Eye Blind: Slow Motion Meaning
Slow Motion Lyrics
But I think I just shot her son
'Cause he owed me money
With a bullet in the chest you cannot run
Now he's bleeding in a vacant lot
The one in the summer where we used to smoke pot
I guess I didn't mean it...

In my opinion the song is about The glamorization of drugs in movies that led to a generation of addicts and the backlash of that ; the murder, the sex (the teacher whose son he shot it is named Miss Jones) the fast adrenaline life that in the end when he goes home he hears beatings in moans of pain because they don’t have anything to eat but paint chips

Actually I think the song is just a song with no meaning. It's a song that is talking about murder/inner city violence (as the other anonymous person said) and he just wrote it. Near the end of the song Jenkins says "I incite murder for your entertainment. 'Cause I needed the money what's your excuse? The joke's on you." So I think he is saying "I'm just going to write an intense song that has a beautiful tune and have people think this song is amazing because it's slow and has emotion in it and I really need money. The song is released and people love it although it's about horrible lives that happens behind closed doors. Well, the jokes on them." I don't know, that's the way I see it.

I think youve made some truly interesting pontis. Not too many people would actually think about this the way you just did. Im really impressed that theres so much about this subject thats been uncovered and you did it so well, with so much class. Good one you, man! Really great stuff here.

Actually Stephan Jenkins said in an interview that the song is about gun control (mainly) and how Hollywood glamorizes murder, drugs, and sex. Such a beautiful song though.
-
I agree this song is about inner city violence.
-
I disagree, I think the song is about today's society and all the problems it has along with the way that Hollywood glamorizes it in a way that makes it seem less brutal to us. By doing so continuing the cycle of behavior becoming progressively worse.
