Tom Lehrer: I Hold Your Hand in Mine Meaning
I Hold Your Hand in Mine Lyrics

This song rappresent a distorted form of "love", in which the character that Lehrer is interpretating sings about how much he loves his partner, however in the middle of the song we start to understand that there is something wrong. This isn't the normal type of love, this is obsession, a macabre type of obsession, in fact the man cut off the hand of his lover to always have her by his side. And, at the end of the song, we discover that this guy k1lled his lover, however he still insist that he loved her. I think that this may be taken, in todays vision, as a call out to all those people who are ossesive, possessive and violet towards their partners and still consider it "love".
