My big brother had sent this song to me about 5 months before he shot himself.. We talked just about everyday and somehow I missed it whenever he sent it to me until about a week ago when I was able to remember my login info to an old account and was able to go over our conversations and came a crossed the message with the link to the song. This was the first and the only song her had ever sent to me.

I think it can be anything physical, mental, emotional, passion. It can mean a number of things to anyone. The song hit home with me because of the loss of my mother. She had a scar on her leg from a gunshot wound that she survived, and she was scarred not only physically but mentally and emotionally. She was self conscious and at times fell into a deep depression. Her life was hard but she held it together for us kids and she did have a passion for life too. She passed away years ago and it was devastating. The part where it says "I wish you were here" then where it says something like"to be next to you, to hold you tight and breathe you in deep". That part really hit me because I wish I could hug my mom tight and that she was still here. A very powerful and emotional song. I'm going to be singing this loud and proud when I see Godsmack tonight

I never had a clear meaning of this song until one day in the car. One of my friends had suffered the loss of a close friend. I did not personally know the friend but I know they were close. After the funeral, we heard this song on the radio. I took his hand as support, and when the song finished, he was shaking and crying. Since that day I interpreted this song as a person who is grieving over the loss of a loved one. They are trying to understand more, and that is leaving them vulnerable. It is a song that tells of the pain of love, and the way it scars you.
