Pierce the Veil: I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous Meaning
I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous Lyrics
-
This Song is about going to hollywood and reaching fame, but once the person reaches fame they get caught up and get addicted to drugs and alcohol.
-
I believe this song is about rape. "Love me as you lay" and "narcotic sweet talk" suggest that the victim was unconscious, therefore nonconsensual. Also, "leave this girl alone" suggests someone standing up for her after maybe a repeated incident. The lyrics also say something along the lines of jumping off of a balcony just to make it stop. I perceived this as the victim wanting to end her life or the hell she's been put through. Pierce the Veil often writes about traumatic events, and, as tragic as they are, they need to be spread. (Also: it is said that yelling "FIRE!" Is more effective than yelling "RAPE!", hence the "call the police, this place is gonna burn.")
