Rihanna: What Now Meaning
Song Released: 2011
What Now Lyrics
I shouldn't be crying, tears were for the weaker days
I'm stronger, now what, so I say
But something's missing
Whatever it is, it feels like
It's laughing at me through the glass of a two-sided...

#1 top rated interpretation:Seriously people! anyone who thinks this song has anything to do with past relationships or love in anyway obviously has never gone through depression before!!! This song is very clearly about how being depressed really feels! And I know that because I've suffered with depression since I was a teenager! first time anyone has put it in a song, so clear it's a cry for help

#2 top rated interpretation:I think it's a song about generally feeling empty inside. trying so hard to hide any form of weakness that you become a shell of your former self, unable to feel happy sad or even love. Just spending life going from one temporary high to another never having lasting relationships because there's no point.

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I think she's saying that she was really in a bad place and a guy came into her life and changed everything around, made her happy. But then she questions whether it was him or maybe she got there on her own and he just came into her life at the right time. And although she loved him so much she fell out of love and she's just going through the motions with him and doesn't know how to end a relationship with a person that made such a big impact on her life.
-
She’s clearly talking about anxiety and how its taking a toll on her life and the deeper it gets the more she pushes people away from her. and becomes less motivated to involve herself with others. and later gets sad.. and the gut she was with she doesn’t want to be selfish and hurt him but she can’t control her emotions
-
Sure feels hopeless...only hopeful as well...in the question "what now?"
Feels spiritual in every sense. I pray and hope that she and all who relate to this song find the right, and best answer they hope for from the question "what now?"...by the grace of God -
Rihanna was dating Chris Brown back in 2013 which is when the song was released, which later on we found out she was a victim of abuse in her relationship; maybe this was a cry for help, saying that she couldn't tell anybody about it because she was maybe embarrassed or feeling threatened at the time, so she lied and made out her relationship was perfect.
-
I think Rihanna in that song is saying that she’s so empty inside that she’s not even able to feel love for someone. She’s supposed to be in love, but once again she feels numb. She really wants to feel something, and that lack of emotion is what is laughing at her. And that situation makes her cry and feel sad.
-
She is just sick and tired of this thing called love. Don't worry riri, all will be well soon.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think riri is regretting of ever being famous in her life because there is no point of being famous any longer..... she's being haunted....riri is being haunted.......

"I think it's a song about generally feeling empty inside. trying so hard to hide any form of weakness that you become a shell of your former self, unable to feel happy sad or even love. Just spending life going from one temporary high to another never having lasting relationships because there's no point."
While I agree 100%, i feel like it also is about her relationship with Chris Brown and its like symbolic of that -
Yah neh i dont know what to say riri but this song remind me many things that i never thought i will remember in my life
-
this song says so much about feeling, for anyone who has ever been in love because love is a fragile thing.. i think in this song so much feelings have been held back, trapped, sadness, heartbreak etc... and then with the person that broke your heart you just feel like you want to give up on love you want to feel absolutely nothing because you want the pain gone... you just want to shut everybody out, you don't want to love anymore cause it seems pointless, cause it like why fall in love when there is a possibility your heart is going to get broken...when your heart is broken you feel an empty, you feel worthless cause nothing makes sense without that person that you love WHAT NOW is basically giving me the sense that your asking your that person that broke your heart for directions because he\she became your life.
-
The song what now is showing riri's inner feelings on the outside she has his shell covering up how the inner her is feeling.

Rihanna is in the Illuminati game... She was so infatuated and involved in the fame & money she became blinded & now she realizes that it was a mistake... If you notice her appearance is how it was when she first became popular, innocent. After joining the satanist they changed her, she became more sexual, & her clothes more revealing. She's opening her eyes, she doesn't know what to do.. This video is actually Rihanna... not her demon goddess.... even on 106 & park when This first aired Bow Wow even said "idk what's wrong with Rihanna but she sure does seemed possesed". Exactly. The world is coming to an end. & The critics are going to continue to stay blind to it all. But that's why everyone has their own opinions right?? I believe in God, the Bible warns us of This... so let it be known. Money is the root of all evil.. "Forgive them father for they do not know".
-
Rihanna was going through tough times when she came out with this song and wanted people to understand that she is trying to be strong but can't hold her emotions in check and just needs some space right now as she makes it through her life. She is 26 years old and can handle herself. That's why nothing else.
-
Rihanna is expressing her emotions. She says that she has 'been ignoring this big lump in my throat' this suggests that she has been ignoring something which has been haunting her for a long time (maybe her boyfriend). She then punishes her self by telling us that she 'shouldn't be crying' but she then opens up and admits that she has been in worse situations 'tears were for the weaker days'. Rihanna then admits that she has recovered from whatever is haunting her but she still feels like part of her is missing (this could be because her boyfriend left her) 'I'm stronger, now what, so I say But something's missing'.
Finally Rihanna states that whatever is bothering her is 'laughing at me through the glass of a two-sided mirror'. This suggests that she feels paranoid because she thinks people are laughing at her and she can't see them. -
I think Rhianna has realized that being in the illuminati is horrible, because there was no love. God is Love. and I think she knew that before but she wanted to do what she wanted and not listen to God. God is the way, truth, and he's enternal life. I think Rhianna wants to have a relationship with God again but she doesn't know how or think its possible. But she needs to understand that God forgives everyone! and He still loves her. No sin is "bigger" then the rest, it is all sin. God Loves Everyone!
