Annie Lennox: Universal Child Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Universal Child Lyrics
-
When I first heard the song I took it as baby Jesus learning to take His flight to learn how to grow as a child into the very Savior we have today. The Bible says he was as a child until the age of thirteen, that tells me he had to learn to grow, learn to be the Almighty one He is today and forever.

Lennox explained the inspiration behind this song: "It's really strange. I hadn't been writing any songs for a long time. Then this title popped into my head – I didn't even know it was a title. It was just two words… Safety, security, access to medical care, to love, protection, education, a future, a decent place to live – a child must have all these things. In the Western countries this tends to be taken for granted. In developing countries it's a different story.
The abuse of children is just… everywhere," she added with a shake of her head. "It truly is. I've been to rape crisis centers, I know what's going on." -
I am not sure what Annies meaning to this beautiful song is, but I see it as all the babies that have been aborted and God is bringing them home to hurt no more . Also I see it as baby Jesus as mary was teaching him as a child to become our savior.
I feel Annie wrote this for the women and children that are suffering and dieing with HIV.It is truly a beautiful song and a blessing to many . Thank you Annie
