Day Tripper Lyrics

Got a good reason for taking the easy way out
Got a good reason for taking the easy way out now

She was a day tripper, one way ticket yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out

She's a big teaser, she took me half the way...

Song is about German Hookers, I'm surprised you didn't know that. Hello! One night stand, prick teaser, etc, how the hell would that be about drugs? It's about hookers.

But this song is most definitely, at least partially,
    about drugs.

No less than John Lennon said so, and that's good enough
for me, but you may know something he didn't.

Also, if you do just a wee bit more research, you will find
that George and John were "dosed" by their dentist in
    late 1964.

Wow guys. This song is a John comp. and its not about drugs. This song was written in 1964 and they hadn't done acid at that point. They only drug they were known to have done where pills. John said he just liked the word "tripper". read a book guys. geeze

This is definitely a drug song but Paul didn't write it. John did. This is a rare case of Paul singing lead on one of johns songs (it was John's idea because he thought he sang the backup vocals better than Paul) I'm not sure what drug(s) he's referring to..but I know for a fact that this is a John Lennon written song.

Well my original understanding of the lyrics was that this girl was a married woman that would only come for one day and lead the man on -- thus one way ticket yeah and she's a big tease. My neighbor lady who is several years my senior believes that a daytripper means the vulgar word for prostitute. I've read online that John lennon admitted it was a reference to a certain drug. We probably shouldn't try too hard to disect lyrics though and just enjoy the music for what it is entertainment. If you really want to listen to some seriously deep lyrics checkout some dire straits or mark knopfler.

No clue about what drug this is, but the name gives it away. Day Tripper

The song is about LSD. Paul wrote the song and was the last of the four to try LSD despite pressure from George, John, and Ringo. "She's a big teaser, she took me halfway there" is a reference to marijuana and "it took me so long to find out" is the reference to LSD (as he was the last one to try it) It's basically about how LSD was a greater experience than marijuana.

I was researching the meaning of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and came across an interview with Paul McCartney, in which he listed the songs by The Beatles that were inspired by drugs. He named a few minor songs, but he did say Day Tripper was one of them.
