Yellow Submarine Lyrics

In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines.
So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine.
We all live...

The idea did come across over using lsd, but it isn't about drugs. They were in george's house, which was big and yellow, and John was like "man, it's like we're all living in a yellow submarine, man"...True story!

The song, as Paul has stated himself, was meant to be a children's song and perhaps because of the lsd he was taking at the time he enjoyed the idea of kids singing it. The effects of lsd serve to broaden one's perspective and allow them to see beauty in all things. A fairytale song sung by kids is the beauty he set out to seek. When he had finished the result was yellow submarine.

"It's about people who live in a yellow submarine" - so, so true.

I'm not sure whether this song has any real meaning or if it's just a nonsense song. All the same it's a nice tune. Reminds me of nursery school...

lalacoolj is misinformed. John Lennon's dad's last name was Lennon. His mom's maiden name was Stanley.

This song is about how we all live in this tiny world and most of the time we are sheltered. I also think Lennon put some of his childhood in the lyrics.

And I am tired of hearing all of you talking about drugs. The Beatles were a wonderful band and I think some of you are on drugs!

Don't you all think that it is about John talking about his father. John Lennon's real last name was his father's last name. Lennon was his mother's maiden name. He never lived with his father so I personally think it was about his dad. He was always out at sea.

Some people believe this song is about communism.

Because they all live together happily in this yellow submarine. Possibly while doing a large amount of drugs, because that's the only way applied communism might work.

But there's also a slight possibilty... get ready for this... That it's just a stupid fun song about nothing in particular with a catchy chorus.
