Goshen Lyrics
-
To me, these lyrics are all about fame, and the darker side of it. The way that Beirut sing it, they just sound incredibly tired of everything at first.
"You're on in five" implies the expectations for the famous people, and then all the walls that they end up putting up:"you're the face in stone".
The girl who seems to be famous is not happy and wishes that it had all never happened, like she is constantly being watched and analysed: "Stood by your door all day". It has changed her, and now she is different, bitter and regretting it.
