Ben Lee: Catch My Disease Meaning
Catch My Disease Lyrics
and that's the way I like it
My garden's a secret compartment
and that's the way I like it
and that's the way I like it
Your body's a dream that turns violent
and that's the way I like it
and that's the way...

In a quick summary, Catch my disease = fall inn love with me.
"My head is a box filled with nothing" he's talking about his ind and it's not "empty" it's just open for new experiences and looking for possibilities.
"My garden's a secret compartment" garden is referring to his heart and the "secret compartment" part means that it's not something easily accessed. Adding "and that's the way i like it" after that emphasis the "secret compartment" part, saying that he prefers to shield off his heart from others. Yet this song is talking about a girl, someone who should feel honored that he let her into his heart.
"You body's a dream that turns violent" In his eyes she's perfect, but they obviously got into some sort of argument and broke up/separated. No, he does not like it. What he likes about that is that's the way she acts and he loves HER.
"The winter's long in the city" The long winter refers to their time apart and the "in the city" part is loneliness. You can be surround by people and still be completely alone. And he likes it because his alone time only shows that he really loves her.
The chorus is his plea to her to come back and return his feelings. "Open your heart, catch my disease." Remember, "catch my disease" means fall in love with me.
"I was backstage in Pomona... she drank beer with coca-cola... she told me about the winds from Santa Anna... she told me she loved me like fireworks." The winds and the fireworks could be considered foreshadowing. the winds are like the winds of change and the fireworks represent their short relationship; brilliant colors that light up the sky with a rumble you can feel in your heart, but slowly dim as they sparks fall back to earth.
Lastly, the stanza where he talking about Good Charolette and Beyonce just shows what kind of person he is. He's happy that they're succeeding and getting on the radio, but he's also happy that he got on there as well. His and their success gives him hope that his relationship with this girl was not just a "firework" and that she will finally realize her feelings and come back.
The rest of the song is self explanatory. Hope this helped! :) -
The probably lamest thing I could come up with is that the person whom the song about is a private person but meets this chick and becomes exuberantly happy and hopes that she feels the same way.. The song tells some detail about her that he likes.. and then some things he likes.. Other than that tidbit of lameness, I'm not sure :P
