Christopher Cross: Sailing Meaning
Song Released: 1980
Sailing Lyrics
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
Find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Be with me
It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if...
-
I played this song on my phone when my girlfriend and I sat on the balcony of our room on a cruise ship while it was pulling out of port at the very beginning of the cruise.I sincerely teared up! To me he is talking about sailing literally. The canvas that can do miracles is the canvas of the sail itself. To me the canvas was the scenes we saw from that balcony,, moon rises,, sun rises, sunsets,, and water so deep blue, you’d swear you were witnessing a postcard being made. And if the wind is right you can sail away,, or to me what this means,, is simply enough, iThe experience itself was serenity, and tranquility. Christopher Cross was right. It’s not far to never never land.
