Crash Test Dummies: Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Meaning
Song Released: 1993
Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Lyrics
Got into an accident and couldn't come to school
But when he finally came back
His hair had turned from black into bright white
He said that it was from when
The cars had smashed him so hard
Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm...

Ok.
Parents...
The main theme is parents feeling embarassed, so they tell the kids to make something up. Cuz is it always what the kids say or what they are told, that is the truth.
The truth is relative... Being that they feel they have to protect the parents, which they love. Thats one aspect.
The other perspective have to be that kids are affected by parents and their actions/beliefs... Like when underaged are forced to go to church, while it doesn't mean anything to them it is slowly breezing into their conscious minds, either yes or no, and at puberty they make their minds, rebellion extreme.
Depends on if they are strong enough, to set them selves free of parents acting "silly"
the first two are lucky, the song says so...
The last kid is subject to what I specified as second.
Peace out! -
Alrighty,
so, I think too deeply into things like this...
But the song has always made me *really* sad even before I couldn't understand the lyrics.
Verse one: I think it's talkng about how the accident changed the kids personality. Maybe it wasn't a car crash, he never specifies.
Verse two: the girl, I think the 'birthmarks' were actually bruises. She was afraid and ashamed to admit it, but I feel that her parents were abusing her.
Verse three: the girl and the kid both preffer their own issues because atleast they have some escape from it, but this boy, he has no life other than that.
That's just my take on it. -
The key I think is the verse before the church kid. Obvious the boy and girl feel they dont' have it as bad as the kid who has no life and parents have essential forced him to live at home, school, and church. Even though the other kids have physical problems that they have no control over this kid has no control over the mental aspects which his parents are sucjecting him to. The boy and girl would rather have their looks than have no life and shake on the floor at church. They will survive fine, the last church boy will more than likely have worse problems in society.
-
Its about the little weird things that happen in the world.
Talking about the children, they are affected from the parents.
And that the children don't know what is going on around them, the high set of difference, that is all around us. But seen as peculiar, where as its regular, but hidden.
Anyway, that's how I see it.
Peace out! -
The last verse is about these churches that you see on tv where the preacher lays hands on somebody and the start shaking and get "the holy ghost" which I don't believe in, but that's my best guess at what the last verse is about.

Umm well this song really confused me a lot actually and I thought about it for ages and still couldn't really figure out the third kid- why are they shaking all over the church floor???
I mean the basic what the song is about is the things that kids have in their lives like problems that are just part of life for them, just always been there or been like that but still why were the kids parents shaking all over the floor??? My only guesses that I can come up with are seisures because he has to be home all the time so maybe their epilectic or what ever the word is for chronic seisure havers. Or that its some weird religeous thing but I dunno anyone with a better idea let me know, I've wondered for ages. -
I think this song could have several meanings but to me its just about kids who are embarrased with things about their bodies like birthmarks. Although, the 3rd verse I think talks about a kid at school who is seen to have 'weird parents' becase of their religion; and so neither boy or girl at the begining of the song would rather be him than have their problems.
