Don't Dream It's Over Lyrics
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re travelling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream...

The song was used in Stephen Kings mini series , The Stand . Every time I hear this song , something in it sounds dismal ! I know it's not , but the chord progression seems sad and lonely ! I do however like the song !

Telling from the name of the song, its about "hope."

I believe this song is about breaking up. "whoever" turns to the TV page so they don't see the truth, the obvious situation they're in. They don't know how it will end but the world will never go away. It all comes rushing in as it does for all of us, we realize it's over. Don't build a wall to hate each other. Just accept it as it was.
The beat of the drum is her heart, he's close. The shadows barely clear the roof because the person's heart isn't happy, it's sad! They're both liberated and relieved because it's over, but they haven't lost that "contact" they had before. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about public complacency towards politics as evidenced by a struggle of two lovers separated by the Berlin Wall whose cries are ignored by everyone, from the crushing communist governments to the authoritarian democracies that try to control everything.
