    Based on 1 Corinthians 15:50-57 “50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.     Sounds like death is an advantage. "Death is on my side" means it's an advantage. When you're at war you want death on your side and not against your side. So it's escaping death and the drum beats sound like someone is running through the woods with machine guns at war...awesome song....

    His girl cheated on him. He thought they were together forever. Now it's only time between him and death because life seems pointless now with nothing to work or live for. The enemy could be himself, time, maybe who she cheated with. When the enemy is done, there is truly nothing left but time waiting to die.
