Dierks Bentley: I Hold On Meaning
Song Released: 2013
I Hold On Lyrics
-
The line "like a boy to his dad" reminds me of this kid I know in 8th grade the same grade as me lost his dad on Agust 26th. He was at his funeral September 3rd. I knew him and I kinda care about him. I mean he'll come letteraly come up to me and ask for a high 5. One time my friend asked for a high 5 and so did the kid and I have him a high 5 first instead of my friend.

The song is about the singer (Dierks Bentley) explaining how he has all old things like his dad's truck and an old guitar and how lots of people are saying he should get rid of those and get new ones but he does not. He does not get rid of the truck because The truck reminds him of his father and the fun he had with his dad on the road trip to Tennessee and the guitar he has been playing since he began singing and playing so these things are close to him and his heart.
