Easton Corbin: I Can't Love You Back Meaning
I Can't Love You Back Lyrics
I can love you all day
I can love you even more when I get home
I can love you every second
to the ends of the earth
Where needing you's the only thing that's on
my broken one track mind
(Chorus)
Girl, I...
-
First, let me say, I've never seen the video. When I hear this song, I think of that relationship that just happened at the wrong time. That person still comes to mind, we still talk, laugh, and in our own way love each other. Timing is everything.
-
I know the video explains pretty well that its about losing somebody, but until I saw the video I thought it was about a situation where both people love each other, but it doesn't work out. Its always a one way street and they never both try to make it work at the same time.
-
I believe she might not have died, but is in a coma. He can love her in the ways described in the song (as writing a 1000 letters a day) since she is still here, but due to her mental state, he can't love her back to the way it was.
-
At the beginning of the song it shows her almost getting hit by a truck, and as for the thousand letters and call a hundred times a day means he writes her letters and calls her knowing she can't return them because she died. It's a great song with a sad video, but its clear she died.
One of the comments adds a good point the rewinding shows time, it could possibly be that the kiss and the look back made her late to get hit by the truck. There are a lot of interpretations but the music video shows it how the artist wanted it to be. The song is about the love of his life dying and he can't love her back to life. -
My interpretation is that they been through so much in there relationship but he cant take it anymore. And he just can't love her back anymore because it would be better for him if he didn't.
-
I agree that she died after watching the video, but really I liked the song better before watching it... It seems like a better song in a way that the girl just left him and he cant love her enough to get her back in his life.. great song though, just I like to think of it as a girl leaving him, not dying... thats just too sad
-
I think it is saying he can't love her back cause now she can't say I love you.. so he can't say i love you back.
-
I also thought that she had been killed in an accident, but the lines "I can write a thousand letters, call a hundred times a day" makes me think other wise. I now think that she has left and no matter what he does she's not coming back to him
-
He loves her in every way imaginable, but no matter how much love he has for her, she simply cannot come back to him.
-
this is a great song, I have only seen the video once and I sat down to watch it. I think that the video is about time to, at the beginning she is almost hit by the truck and throughout the video it sort of rewinds. Then at the end she stops to look over her shoulder at him or kisses him, I can not remember for sure. In my world, that moment made her too late for the that truck to hit her so she did not die. The song is to remind us that you can't love someone back, so get at it while they are there. As well, all those little moments can change the outcome of any situation. Not sure if that makes sense, but it is an amazing song!
-
I agree. I think she dies. If you watch and analyze the video it clearly shows that they are happy. She didn't leave him.
-
Initially there could be several meanings but,the music video clarifies it. They are together and happy, when the girl is killed in a car accident. He's saying that no matter how much he loves her he can't change what has happened, there's no way for him to rewind time and bring her back.
-
I agree with the person under me. If you watch the video it "shows" her running a red light and getting hit my a big truck. He loves her, but no matter what, he cant love her BACK into the world.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I say they'er lovers. He can't truly commit. I can feel everything about love, but can't actually, LOVE the way she would like.
