Edwin McCain: I'll Be Meaning
Song Released: 1998
I'll Be Lyrics
Stop me and steal my breath.
Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth.
Tell me that we belong together,
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be...

I heard Edwin McCain talking about this song on some TV show. He said he was watching romance blossom between two drunk people in a bar. He was laughing when he was talking about it and now I always think about that when I hear it.

I always saw this song as being about a guy who is thanking someone for taking him under him their wing and taking care of him and he regrets never having the chance to say thank you in person because they passed away. He believes it's because they had a heart so big that god couldn't let them live. and he wishes this person could see him now. 'So lucky, so strong, so proud' and it's all thanks to them. well that's my opinion anyway lol. I think people who've never had the chance to thank someone for being there for them or helping them would connect to this song well :)

This song, in my opinion, is clearly about love. He's apparently been hurt by love before "Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above." But he is telling her that he loves her and the chorus tells her what he is going to "be" for her.
