Ella Mai: Trip Meaning
Song Released: 2018
Trip Lyrics
I put my feelings on safety
So I don't go shootin' where your heart be
'Cause you take the bullet tryna save me
Then I'm left to deal with making you bleed
And there's a whole lotta love, ain't tryna waste it
Like we be...

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:Shes gotten her feelings involved in what was supposed to only be a sexual situation! The sex is amazing and she admits she was wrong when she got her heart involved. Her bad! It's "big enough" and she acts "a fool" when she dont get it... trippin. That feelin he keeps givin...he keeps hitting it!

It sounds like the guy is really into the girl but the girl isn’t as into the guy — but she doesn’t want to tell him that and be responsible for making him bleed. The guy is offering to sacrifice himself for her but she never asked him to and she doesn’t want want to be blamed or for him to accuse her of hurting him, when he’s kind of doing it to himself. And she wants to let him go and tell him to move on, but she sees how good his love is and she keeps tripping on it because it’s so big and she can’t really get away from it. She starts getting addicted to all the attention he gives her, so when he’s not available, she gets impatient and acts like a fool, maybe throwing a tantrum, and they get in a fight. At the same time, the guy is getting bitter about her not loving him back and she’s starting to resent his love because he’s using it against her. So she sarcastically apologizes and says, “My bad.” She doesn’t want to face it anymore or be held responsible for not giving as much as he gives. She’s been sipping alcohol to deal with his bitterness and expectations of her, but now she’s finally decided to stop tripping on him and quit going back to his love and using him. She says they tried but can’t make it, and she doesn’t want him to waste his love on her when she can’t fully appreciate it.

Being head of heels for a guy who has you tripping over him (emotional and sexual attraction).
-
She has to deal with the guy falling in love with her even after she hid her feelings and tried to prevent it.
-
She doesn’t know how to handle a love so real and authentic so sometimes she’s Mia interpreted him and made mistakes in trippin so now she’s gonna fall back and just embrace the love that’s “too good to be true”
