You're Somebody Else Lyrics
That only when you're older you will see too
You will see too
I held the better cards
But every stroke of luck has got a bleed through
It's got a bleed through
You held the balance of the time
That only blindly I...

When I listen to this song and reminds me of my bestfriend who unfortunately got in to drugs. It makes me think of who she was before drugs and who she is now I don’t even recognize her like she talks the same sounds the same But she isn’t the same. And it’s hard watching her life go down hill because of drugs. Like I don’t want to associate with her anymore because it isn’t my bestfriend it’s someone else in her body. And in the song when they say “I saw the part of you that you won’t see ” makes me think when she’s older she’ll realize she isn’t the same person and I hope she stops drugs soon because I hate seeing her destroy her life.

I totally feel this song. We do all have these things that we don't tell... And then we do tell. And people think we changed. Yes, we did. Change. But not in the way other people think. We just came a little closer to being ourselves... We were always like this but no one noticed it.
For me it's about telling 'them' you are gay. 'Cause when you told them, they will think you've changed... Well, we have (I have) always been like this. We/I just told them now and admitted it. -
Everyone is correct in their meaning of this song to themselves...gets me in the feels. Thats what makes a good song..it could mean something different..to everyone.

I think it`s about two people who have had a relationship. One of the two did something that made the other person see him/her in a completely different way than before. Maybe the person believed in him/her and was always there for him/her and knew him/her better than anyone else. Mybe the person knew that he/she had dark sides but also good ones, that he/she couldn`t see yet. But the person started racing things. He/She got scared and did something that made the other person stop believing in him/her because he/she started destroying him/her. The person can`t believe that he/she would just go away.

I heard that it was about Alzheimer's also, and it makes since when you listen to the lyrics and apply it to her developing the disease.

It's crazy how I think about a person and a ghost. The ghost is the future self of the person who is more mature and knows better.Things happen sometimes which we cannot make sense of but we do when we get older,at least most of it.So the ghost whose the future self of the person,is more knowledgable, knows the decisions the person has yet to make, all the mistakes that the ghost still regrets even though it has been so long, and all the opportunities and closed doors. But sometimes we can never really understand our past self, all the things we did and all the things we really wanted to do but didn't,that's where the person comes in.

To me it means 2 people who knew each other when young, but are growing older.it is not easy getting older.and perhaps the one person is saying they see the true beauty inside even though the outside beauty fades with time.I am in my late 50's.I have a friend who has changed so much I no longer know who he is.Yet I am stupid and still think of him as being the kind person he was when we were younger. He is not.

I think this song is about watching a lived one go through the horrible effects of alzheimers. I showed this to my dad(he's 64 years old) and he changed my view of what I thought this song was about. And after his interpretation, I listened to the song and I dont know how I missed it. Him and I think that this sing is about just that. Alzheimers is a horrible disease. We know first hand. Sad song.

It has to do with a twin flame relationship. One of the twins did not realize who they were until they get older.one recognizes that they hear their own self within the other you look like yourself but you're somebody else.

i think that this song is about someone really close to you changing in a bad way or a way that you don't like

When I heard this song it reminded me about when my ex changed me for the worst, one of my friends started noticing me change, a close friend noticed it first but I I denied everything and lied that I was fine. I felt happy for some time before everything happened, I had a horrible anxiety issue. Everyone kept telling me how much I've changed. And I've made everyone uncomfortable with me at the time. When I broke up with my ex and things gor happier after that year, I noticed how horrible I've been acting towards myself and how I've sounded different at the same time sounded normal. That's what I always think when I hear this song.

According to Cole and Shpresa, the main lyric in the song, you look like yourself but you're somebody else was "more a matter of one speaking to oneself than to another person." They went on to say, "sometimes when we’re dealing with psychological issues, we literally feel displaced internally; alien to ourselves. [The song] ended up taking on multiple meanings and perspectives but the root of it at the beginning was as a sort of self-talk, self-therapy."
