Foxes: Beauty Queen Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Beauty Queen Lyrics
When the real things in our lives can't get in?
Marching to the same drum
Every single beat's gone
I can hear the dark days coming
Another generation
Fighting for attention
Can't you see I'm...

I think this song is about how modern stars were once people like us, so why do we idolize them? "There's a house in the forest, where her days are forgotten" This Beauty Queen used to live somewhere other than Hollywood. "By the lake she dropped her dreams, and they sunk to the bottom." She had her little dreams of being a star, and now she has no one to turn to, because she shut them all out, hence: "when the real things in our life can't get in." She walks the red carpet and will now be forever remembered with a star on the walk of fame or a wax statue, but she didn't REALLY want that, she only thought she did at the time (you were never meant to be trapped in time.) She was pretty to begin with and all the boys at school wanted her because she was pretty and nice, but now EVERYONE wants her, nobody cares about her personality though. They just love her for her looks. And if her looks expire, She will too.

Meaning of this song is that beauty is fleeting and that it isn't all in beauty. As example she wrote song about beauty girl that everyone loved, but now she's obviously forgotten.
