Green Day: F.O.D. Meaning
F.O.D. Lyrics
It's been for quite some time
This time I'm on to you
So where's the other face?
The face I heard before
Your head trip's boring me
Let's nuke the bridge we torched
2,000 times before
This time we'll blast it all...

#1 top rated interpretation:Someone requested this:
'Greenday F.O.D What does the end of this song have to do with anything?'
First off, the song is F.O.D. (Fuck Off and Die) by Green Day. It is about hating someone who backstabbed you.
After the song reaches about 4:09 it is actually a new song "All By Myself" written and sung by Tre Cool. Tre also plays the guitar. It is about lonlieness and masturbation. Rumoured to be recorded at a party. It is the only hidden track on a Green Day album. -
In my opinion, this is about the three stages of anger. The down-tempo part at the beginning is the build-up of anger, and trying to keep it quiet. The loud part is finally letting your anger out, letting everyone know how you feel, telling the person you're angry at to, well, FOD. "All By Myself" is about thinking back on a person, but then drifting away and fapping instead.
-
this song could be about a girlfriend or a random girl that the narrator has... had feelings for, or a friend he thought he could trust, something happened, and the love/feelings he had for the girl have gone, or the respect he had for his friend has gone.
"Something's on my mind
It's been for quite some time
This time I'm on to you"
ok, here we go. the narrator has suspicions about said girlfriend/random girl/friend not being as truthful as they make out. he's taken time to think it over, and realised that his suspicions make sense.
"So where's the other face?
The face I heard before
Your head trip's boring me"
the subject of the song is still misleading him, and the narrator is getting tired of the charade.
"Let's nuke the bridge we torched
2,000 times before
This time we'll blast it all to hell
I've had this burning in my guts now
for so long
My belly's aching now to say"
simply put, the narrator wants the ties between him and the subject to be cut off completely - he doesn't want anything left over ("let's nuke the bridge... this time we'll blast it all to hell"). the chorus also shows his anger/resentment/jealousy (if it's a girlfriend or a random girl who is playing hard to get) with the line "i've had this burning in my guts...".
"Stuck down in a rut of dislogic and smut
A side of you well hid
When it's all said and done
it's real and it's been fun
But was it all REAL fun"
this verse discusses the subject's play-acting.
"You're just... a fuck,
I can't explain it 'cause I think you suck.
I'm take-
-in pride
in telling you to fuck off and die."
could be a confrontation where the narrator pulls the plug on the relationship/friendship. once again shows the anger that the narrator feels at being misled and lied to for so long - "i'm taking pride in telling you to fuck off and die" - no longer has any feelings for the subject, wouldn't shed a tear id the subject walked under a bus or whatever.
this is where i piss off a bunch of people and milk the spotlight for all it's worth. personally i think this is a great song with a real edge to it. i took comfort in this song when i was misled by a girl who used me to get over her ex, and also when i found out a guy i trusted was actually a waste of space.
let's see if this sounds exactly like every other review on this song... -
OK, this song is basically about dealing with someone you absolutely hate.
Something's on my mind
It's been for quite some time
This time I'm on to you
This part of the song describes how it can occasionally be your main problem.
So where's the other face?
The face I heard before
Your head trip's boring me
I'm not sure about this part, but it may reference some sort of backstabbing.
Let's nuke the bridge we torched
2,000 times before
The occasional fights you have with the person you hate. They are frequent, but you just keep putting the fires out because you still have to see them every day.
This time we'll blast it all to hell
This means you're just about ready to burst.
I've had this burning in my guts now
for so long
My belly's aching now to say
You just wanna spill to your object of disgust how much you truly despise them.
Stuck down in a rut of dislogic and smut
A side of you well hid
When it's all said and done
it's real and it's been fun
But was it all REAL fun
Not sure here, either, but it may be crediting the person you hate for how well they hide their rotten personality.

This is acctually Billy singing about, forgive me if I'm wrong, him and their drummer always fighting. And he said lets just give it up and quit fighting about it.

The song in my point of view means that someone was hiding something in a relationship. Hence the first verse:
"Something's on my mind
It's been for quite some time
This time I'm on to you
So where's the other face?
The face I heard before
Your head trip's boring me"
the relationship was fun for a while but then things went terribalyly wrong hence the verse after the 1st corus:
"Stuck down in a rut of dislogic and smut
A side of you well hid
When it's all said and done
it's real and it's been fun
But was it all REAL fun"
In the corsue he is looking back on the memories and wants to relive the happy times of the relationship:
"Let's nuke the bridge we torched
2,000 times before
This time we'll blast it all to hell
I've had this burning in my guts now
for so long
My belly's aching now to say"
The rest of the song (not the chorus) he is saying good-bye to the girl who had broken his heart with whe lines:
You're just... a fuck,
I can't explain it 'cause I think you suck.
I'm take-
-in pride
in telling you to fuck off and die.
I've had this burning in my guts now
for so long
My belly's aching now to say
I'm taking pleasure in the doubts
I've passed to you
So listen up 'cause you might miss...
You're just... a fuck,
I can't explain it 'cause I think you suck.
I'm take-
-in pride
in telling you to fuck off and die.
Good night...." -
It is about how he is pissed off at backstabber, and telling him/her just to get out of his sight and die.
-
Actually if you watch the vh1 behind the music this song is about a mainstream journalist who called the band a sellout and this really pisses Billie off.
-
f.o.d fuck off and die it's about masterbation I found it on their u.k website
-
telling some to Fuck Off and Die doesn't mean anything else
-
The end of the song has everything to do with the song. The end of the song is "You're just a fuck/I can't explain it cause I think you suck/I'm taking pride in telling you to fuck off and die." That's the main point of the whole song.

F.O.D.
The song is an abbreviation for Fuck Off and Die. The narrator of the song is a guy. The song is written about a girlfriend that he knows is cheating on him, but she isn’t admitting it. He had know for a long time, but he hasn’t said anything, because, like the girl character in “When I Come Around” maybe he is unsure about going back into the wild to get girls. Here’s a break down…
First Verse:
He is with his “girlfriend” and wants to talk to her about an affair that he knows is going on. He hasn’t known how to bring it up possibly, or like said earlier, he didn’t want to bring it up. So he hasn’t said anything. “The other face” could be a friend that’s in the affair with her. She gets upset that he accuses her, but he knows she is full of shit, so he is just telling her to cut the shit and just admit it.
Second Verse:
The bridge is their relationship, and apparently they have fought before this over other things. Then he is saying he wants to just destroy the bridge, or in other words…break up with her, thus blasting it to hell. He has wanted to do break up with her for a long time, but now …the most recent affair has made him angry enough to finally speak up.
Third Verse:
I’m a bit shaky on this part, but I’m guessing that she did a real good job hiding her affair. He then says that it has been real [meaning “very” in this case] fun. I assume based on the tone of the second “REAL” he is saying their relationship was based on sex, and that was it. This is insulting her integrity, in my opinion, which is his way of insulting her. In essence, he is telling her he used her all this time for sex [which is probably not true, but his response to everything is bitter].
The second verse is repeated meaning the same thing.
Then the song explodes as he just shows his anger for her…telling her to Fuck Off and Die because she has wasted his time…
The bottom line is…this girl is a bitch, or “a fuck” and she can go fuck herself…he’s done with her. He leaves saying “Goodnight” sarcastically.
