    I think this song is about being frightened of getting into a relationship... probably as a result of being badly hurt in the past.

    Innocent, they swim

    (Everyone else around just jumps straight in without a second thought)

    I wish that I was stronger
    I'd separate the waves
    Not just let the water
    Take me away

    He wishes he was stronger but the fear of being hurt stops him)

    There was a time I'd dip my feet
    And it would roll off my skin
    Now every time I get close to the edge
    I'm scared of falling in

    (He used to find it easy to get close to people but now when he meets someone, he's scared incase he falls for them and they hurt him)

    Its about being drunk, drowned in alcohol and feel adicted to a strange liquid that is essential to them like water. The simple truth abouth these two is that they drink too much.
