Iron and Wine: Naked As We Came Meaning
Naked As We Came Lyrics
I'll keep still and breathe in her
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard
She says...

#1 top rated interpretation:I agree with the guy who says it is in reference to how we are naked when we are born, hence naked as we came. But to delve deeper I think this song is a relaly beautiful love song whose message is the songwriter knows he will be with this person forever.
Lines like "one will spread our ashes around the yard", and "one of us will die inside these arms" are his affirmation that even though yes, one of them has to die, they will do so in the others arms. I think its a beautiful use of tragedy (the death of a love one) to allude to love (being together 'till the end being most Americans idea of true love). -

"our ashes", although only one is gone describes their oneness in life and death. "eyes wide open", nothing to hide, nothing to fear, no embarrassment or pretense in the situation of dying with their lover. "naked as we came", as bare, pure, and unadulterated as a new born babe, is their live for each other. "one of us will die inside these arms", full knowledge and confidence of their unending togetherness and love.
