Jack White: Love Interruption Meaning

Love Interruption Lyrics
-
I think he's basically telling love to bring it. Hurt me in the most horrific way that you can but I won't let it change who I am any longer, I won't let love get the best of me and cause me to be something that I am not because love makes you do crazy things.
-
Although the lyrics suggest a dark twisted side of love...I think, for me these lyrics are the opposite. I think the words and lines that are used are to describe intense feelings but not negative ones. Sometimes you want a love to just 'slap you in the face'. Not literally, but figuratively. A love to come at you so crazy strong that it hurts, but in a good way. I think this song is just an intense and somewhat gruesome way of describing those feelings. :)
-
The final downfall of humanity is here if one can reinvent the meaning of "love" to what we used to know as"hate'. The lines of love and hate are being blurred. Surely no one will survive the end of love.

I'm not going to speculate about what this song means to Jack White. I'm going to talk about what it means to me, and how I relate to it.
I was abused and tortured by my step-father for nearly 13 years. This song really relates to me in that the "love" White is referring to is the love between my mother and step-father; he abused me, and she knew about it/witnessed it, but because she "loved him" she allowed it to happen. To me, this song is about how love corrupts people, and sickens them. Like it did my mother.
"I want love to murder my own mother and take her off to somewhere like hell or up above." This line really hits home with me. Love has murdered my mother as I once knew her; she is no longer a loving, caring person; its turned her into a monster; she will go to hell for the sins that she has committed for her love.
"I wont let love disrupt corrupt or interrupt me...anymore." I have left home, and have no contact with my mother or step-father. These lines remind me that although it hurts, not having a relationship with my mother, I am free. I read this line as "I wont let my mother's love for him disrupt/corrupt/interrupt my life anymore, and I will never make the mistakes that I had to watch my mother make.
I could go on and on about how every line in this song can relate to my suffering, but I think I've said enough. The beauty of this song is that anyone can relate to it in so many different ways. White probably didn't write about being abused as a child, he may have written the song about sin, or one of his marriages, but its not about what the artist wants you to think about; its about how we each, as individuals relate to the some that make it meaningful. -
I think what is being described here is love gone wrong. As beautiful as love can be there is always a dark side. Love can be all consuming, blinding and intense. When it's gone, when it starts to crumble that's when the pain will come and everyone will want to have a say in your personal life. This individual in someway has become jaded by love. I also don't think the mother referenced here is actually a mother. I remember when people wondered if Meg was Jack's sister or wife. At first he claimed it was his sister and later clarified that she was like a sister to him because siblings were as close as mates. Therefore, the mother would not actually represent a mother. Rather someone who was not only a mate but a nurturer who held a significant importance in his life at one time. If this is about his divorce from Meg, it's tragic and yet a beautiful song at the same time. Jack is truly talented.
-
I think it's about how love has all these dangers but is worth the effort anyway. It gets to the point we swear it off then you think back and miss it despite the inherent perils of relationships.
-
Love hurts. Period.
-
in the verse I think He is talking sarcastically about all the emotions and feelings that go into a relationship that isn't going so smoothly, and what the end of that relationship is/was.
and in the chorus he is saying I'm not going to let love lead me that way again, and he is basically saying that it wasn't what he did or what she did but what love has made them. -
This is all about Jack's most recent wife whom he divorced in 2011. I know this, because I'm living it. The abuse, both verbal and physical take place weekly, or monthly, and are usually wine fueled. The words hurt more than anything physical, hence he prefers the physical, as do I. Lastly, I'm a man, who has accepted this kind of love. A love that trasferred from physically and verbally fighting her own father, to manifestation later in our marriage.

"Love Interruption"----> a song review
I want love to: roll me over slowly,
Stick a knife inside me, and twist it all around.
I want love to: grab my fingers gently,
Slam them in a doorway, Put my face into the ground.
I want love to: murder my own mother,
Take her off to somewhere, like hell, or up above.
And I want love to: change my friends to enemies,
Change my friends to enemies, and show me how it's all my fault.
because of a certain relationship, the singer is now addicted to pain & the intense sensation of feeling threatened.. he is saying this: i love the feeling of rolling around on the ground, so lost in my own heightened vertigo, and then someone thrusts me with a jinzhou filleting knife. don't we all love that feeling i often wonder. if we don't we should because no one has experienced the pinnacle of life until you've been poached and ravaged deeply by sooo many people. i love getting my delicate digits smashed and broken in a metal doorway as well. i think the singer is speaking about a certain type of love that can occur between two regular people or say a woman & her grandpa rarely. sometimes the loved one feels as if she has had her face smashed and pulverized into the asphalt. it is not an "interruption" of love, but a manifestation of some deep latent hiccups, really. the love is always there.. it just emerges in a more violent form than say, a gentle caress or the cradling of our buttocks. sometimes we need to get these things out of us that we have been yearning to do for years. the singer is saying that his loved one should murder his mother, possibly admitting that this is an unusual type of love... unless he calls his girlfriend mommy, in which case it is completely normal. he is also saying that he wants love to transform his great friends into a tribe of slobbering, fanged savages.. he thinks that it would make him a more well-rounded person if his pals hate him too. he realizes that most everything in life is his fault, so at least he is self-aware. the singer cherishes feeling bludgeoned by love and he does not believe this is a problem. in fact, it's the state of mind he has learned to love.
And I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
Yeah I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me, anymore.
two things happening here: 1. he is trying to appease the people who tell him that his philosophy regarding love is "wrong". he is telling them what he thinks they want to hear, in order to get them off his back. it is as if he is saying, "i won't allow love to make me into a beast anymore" and "i won't hurt her and she won't hurt me" and "you are right and we won't allow misery to interrupt our love anymore", etc.. but.. now we come to 2. he knows veryy well that he will continue his course of loving his loved one in exactly the manner he has been demonstrating -only more visibly. so what he is REALLY saying is that he won't let his friends attempts to control his actions, which some consider to be loving, interrupt him anymore. he is saying that he will never take a break from his determination to love his lover in every way possible, even when his actions are viewed as "non-traditional" and torturous. he knows she and he share an unspoken pact about their love. sometimes certain individuals THINK he behaves in ways that appear as if he is disruptive & corrupt.. but their abrupt eruptions are the interruptions. they are guilty of premature evaluations. basically, these people all need to get to know him better and then they wouldn't judge him so harshly. he is saying that their attempts at controlling him are the "love interruptions".. let him love her in his own way. he doesn't want anyone or anything to halt or hinder his attraction to suffering. he is saying, "don't interrupt my pain with your attempts at 'love'".
I want love to: walk right up and bite me,
Grab a hold of me and fight me, leave me dying on the ground.
I want love to: split my mouth wide open,
And cover up my ears and never let me hear a sound
I want love to: forget that you offended me,
Or how you have defended me when everybody talked me down
Yeah and I want love to: change my friends to enemies,
Change my friends to enemies, and show me how it's all my fault.
he asked his love to please tell his friends to desert him and treat him like dust.. he wanted her to lacerate his nerfish lips and fight him with an army and leave his blind eyes glazed & agog.. his oozing sores are covered with dirt & grim and he only imagines hissing cockroaches in his acidic brain matter. this is more evidence of him being addicted to agony because his lizard brain ASKS for it. when he gets hurt, his adrenaline surges and he only wants more. he begs his love to please kill him, so that he can feel the burn of actual death. when a person has been living under severe stress for a very extended period of time his brain transforms into a gigantic pre-frontal cortex. this part of his brain, his "primitive" brain, has been in charge for far too long & it totally takes over. his chemistry has been altered due to constantly feeling threatened & abused by love and he is now hard-wired to desire constant pain. this state of high-alert has become "normal" and it appears as if his calm, reasonable, thinking brain has been disabled. the reptilian portion of our brain is only usually supposed to be active in small doses. normally, it does not think about life in the long-term as it is the section of our brain which protects us in a fight or flight mode. over the years, his brain has trained him not to think anymore, it just wants him to act by screaming "bring me torment!" he is now a complete reptile and he doesn't want anyone to screw with the pain he considers to be love.
Yeah I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
Yeah I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me, anymore.
he is addicted to the excruciating feelings that his love brings him and he would never want anything to interrupt this. now: bite me, hard. -
This, to me, is a song about betrayal not love -- about expressing the rage due to the betrayal. It is not about love.
Love doesn't do the things described here: stick a knife in and twist it all around.
grab my fingers and slam them in a doorway
put my face into the ground.
murder my own mother
and take her off ....
change my friends to enemies is the antithesis of love. It is hatred; deep, sick hatred that feeds on the person who is feeling that way. This hatred is caused by well, sin and sinning. It rots the person from the inside out.
I hope -- even pray -- that this poor human being will allow Love to interrupt their self-destruction in order to at least get a glimpse of the gentleness, mercy, peace and growth that comes from Love.
