   I see it as a person is going through some tough times in there lives. One that could be compromising who there are as a person due to themselves or the ones around them.
   
   No Second Prize, is meaning that when it comes to yourself, you will always win when you be yourself, if you aren't yourself you will never win because you will not be being true to yourself

   I used to listen to this song before playing footy as a kid, it would get me roused up for a game, however I have also tried to apply this song to my life
   according to what I believe the song means.
   My interpretation is that there is no second prize for not being whom you believe you should be, and there is a lot of people who will try and fight against you being the person you believe you should be.
   A bit like saying there is no rehearsals in life, you get it wrong, you don’t get to do it again, and similarly if you don’t live as a the person you believe you should be theb there is no reward in that.

   We all think about ourselves in negative ways, conditioned by past experiences and circumstances. So we have to fight to save our lives. In other words fight to be who we uniquely are. No second prize does not mean we have to win or else we fail. There is no second prize because there is only one you. There is no one else to compete against you in the fight to be yourself. So no second prize is a positive message saying remember you are unique, there is no one else like you, so there is really no first or second prize to compete for . Just be who you are.

   This is a song about not trying to please other people, but needing to make yourself happy first and foremost, as nothing else is really important. This is because people that truly care about you would also want you to be happy, and when you are happy, you can't help but give more genuinely and more passionately back to people.
   
   No second prize means that not getting the thing you truly want is completely devastating. It means anything else is useless and worthless. So you really have to try and get that number one thing.
