Miss Emily's Picture Lyrics
On the wrong side of the bed all night

I asked John at a concert Q & A if Emily died or left him. He said it's ambiguous but he likes to think it was a death...which makes it more romantic. He did verify that the wong was written about the bar owner in Florida.
Great song! -
It's what everyone said. The man lost the love of his life but the songwriter left it purposefully vague. Miss Emily can be substituted for anyone that lost the love of their life! The song doesn't say she died! She's just gone and the guy simply can't move on. Won't make sense till you've been there! Once you have it makes perfect since

This song has long been one of my favorite personal songs just like summer the first time by Bobby Goldsboro of my first love but this song is definitely to me a very extremely emotional song as when I hear the song I just simply put my wife's name in there her name was Miss Billie. And that's the way I sing it and it really years me up she passed away at 59 was a registered nurse for 26 years I lost her in 4 days she has now been gone two years and 6 months and it seems like forever and she meant everything to me you just learn to live with it and accept it God bless all thanks for reading Michael.

For all purposes, as previously mentioned, he lost the love of his life- Miss Emily.
But what happened to her? -
An article in The Miami Herald several years ago stated Miss Emily ran a bar on an island in the Bahamas, some 12 miles down the beach. You could walk or catch a ride on the boat that delivered supplies.True or not?
