Jordan Smith: Stand In The Light Meaning
Song Released: 2016
Stand In The Light Lyrics
Didn't I tell you I hear what you say
Never look back as you're walking away
Carry the music, the memories and keep them inside
You laugh every day
Don't stop those tears from falling down
This is...

As Jordan is a Christian. I'm interpreted his song as for Christians to stand in the light or in reality, Jesus.
"Be seen as we are" kinda sounds like to never hide our faith whether we are in front of unbelievers or believers. We are called to be brave and to never give up on our faith for Jesus because that's who we are :) Christians.
While Christians can get opressed, he said "this is who i am" and therefore means this is who i am and you're not going to change me no matter how many times you try to tear me away from Jesus -
The song, with his approval, was used in the 2016 National Coming Out Day video. It has been used for several lgbtq projects. Again, I want to stress— with his approval and support.

I'm sure he didn't mean it to sound like this, but to me it definitely seems like a queer pride song

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think this song is about embracing our differences and to stay true to ourselves.

According to Wikipedia, Jordan is a contemporary Christian artist. Two sayings of Jesus come to mind: “I AM the light if the world” (John 9:5) and “I AM the way, the truth and the life...” (John 14:6). He said the first saying when healing a blind man and the second when asked to show the way to the Father (God).
So my take on what the song says is that truly being seen and seeing who we are in the light of the One who created us and knows us better than we know ourselves is a scary thing when anticipated, but glorious when embraced. We have to be completely open to a truth way bigger than the tiny points of view of our ego, of others and of the culture. Our becoming all God means for us to be is ongoing and requires letting go of cherished misconceptions and receive the unconditional love that, though loving us completely as we are, gives everything to free us from what limits our full potential. Why did jordan smith write stand in the light and what is the meaning of stand in the light?
-
Idk if this was it but I think the meaning is for LGBT groups
-
i think that Jordan is trying to tell people who are different to be themselves. Because we need people who think different, but if they hide, we will never know what ideas they had. Main idea... be yourself, don't try to fit in with the crowd.
-
I'm not sure if this is what Jordan intended but I read this song as a gay pride anthem.
-
I think that the message of this song is to inspire people to not hide.
