   Some woman or girl was pregnant - her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her even before he found out about her being pregnant. He was scared and took off - she had an abortion. She went somewhere on vacation where she could think- and "find anything that she could feel" - a warm place - that's In the Sun - but not really - in fact really, really far from it. She was just trying to figure it out - but never could.
   
   But the boyfriend feels guilty for not supporting her or loving her when she needed him the most. He felt stifled -as Archie Bunker would put it - and scared - but simply the love factor scared him far more than the pregnancy factor. But he probably did love her, although he could never tell her, and would never be able to tell her face, so this is his pledge to her - where he doesn't have to see her face-to-face. In the song he says, "I know I would apologise if I could see your eyes" - and if he was in dire need to make amends or help her through the misery and most trying times of making the decision to have an abortion, he could have called her or gone to see her.
   
   "But I [he] was caught in between all you [she] wish [es] for and all you [she] need[s]." This equates it to too being much for him to handle and he wishes God to bless her and help her because it is too much for him to handle - and he needs his space. Not to make him trivial - he is also upset and confused - but has to deal with it in his own way. He is conflited and disturbed as is she.
   
   He wants to find her in the end, but they will never find eachother again because their whole relationship and propective life in eachothers' reach is too damaged.
   
   "If anyone is in the sun, could you help me to understand," means that he wants to remember again what it is like to be innocent.
