Day and Night Lyrics

(What, what?)
I look for peace, but see, I don't attain

#1 top rated interpretation:Day n Nite is about Kid Cudi on a Relapse where he gets away from everything by drugs, that's what he means by "the lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite" in his dreams he sees the life he wants to free, his girlfriend left him because of this habit, he's all alone and it helps get him from the real shit happening.

#2 top rated interpretation:He lost his girlfriend, and he is doing the same shit I am doing. He feels like a "loner" because he has no one to turn to because his friends don't understand his pain. He is so emotionally drained at night that he slips on his Nike kicks and smokes a joint, but during the day he acts like everything is ok when it is not...i know what he is talking about, and I am doing the same thing. He can fight off the feelings during the day, but he struggles like me, and at night he has to smoke to feel a little better.

Get high and think about your life while listening to any cudi song. Your reflection on your life can be strange and thats how cudi thinks. Hes always thinking about why life is the way it is.
-
It's about everyone's stressful lives and how the wonder of a joint can relieve your mind in wonderful ways.

I believe this song is about a friend of Cudi’s who is a drug addict who can’t “shake the shade”, meaning the habit. The first verse says “…keep stressing my mind mind…I try to run but see I’m not that fast…surely finish last” and I think that means he is stressing his mind. He either needs more drugs or wants to kick them aside. I know he is leaning towards trying to kick the habit because he is trying to run from it, but he doesn’t have the will power and will “surely finish last”, and give in. It’s also repeated in the choruses, and verse two, that he has become a loner because of his habit. “The lonely stoner seems…he’s alone through the day and night”, meaning his habit is pushing him further away from family, from friends, from reality. And his girlfriend finally sees this habit of his and leaves because “It seems the feelings that she had are through, through.” Also, seen in verse three, “He seems alive though he is feeling blue”, and I think he knows what he has done is wrong, but there is no one left to apologize to. They are all gone, and he “fade(s) away into his white nights, he smokes a clip…to free his mind in search of…” He commits suicide because of his own loneliness, caused by his “stoner” habit.
