Lorde: Sober Meaning
Song Released: 2017
Sober Lyrics
Lose my mind
Night, midnight
Lose my mind
Night, midnight
Lose my mind
Night, midnight
Oh god, I'm clean out of air in my lungs
It's all gone
Played it so nonchalant
It's time we danced with the truth
Move along with...
-
Mostly the lyrics are self explanatory.
The song is about a relationship being a party. But when the party is over and the breakup has happened there is a big question about what will the future be like - "But what will we do when we're sober?"
"Night, midnight, lose my mind" - being caught in a vicious circle, the feeling of the days merging into one after an emotional break up.
"King and Queen of the weekend, Ain't a pill that could touch our rush (But what will we do when we're sober?)" - Together we are a party, what will we both do now it's finished?
"In the mornin', you'll be dancin' with all the heartache, and the treason, the fantasies of leavin', But we know that, when it's over
In the mornin', you'll be dancin' with us" - Being aware that "In the morning" there will be a lot of emotions and drama to wrestle with.
