Meg & Dia: Monster Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Monster Lyrics
Love Me. Love Me.
That's all I ask for.
Love Me. Love Me.
He battered his tiny fists to feel something.
Wondered what it's like to touch and feel something.
Monster.
How should I feel?
Creatures lie here.
Looking...

Here's what I think it's about: A guy rapes a girl (That night he caged her.Bruised and broke her.He struggled closer. Then he stole her.Violet wrists and then her ankles.), murders her,(Turn the sheets down.Murder ears with pillow lace.) and then kills himself (There's bath tubs.Full of glow flies.Bathe in kerosene.Their words tattoed in his veins.)
-
this song is about her mom being raped, and she is the child of the rapist. Hannah could be her mom. "i am hannah's regret" hannah was raped and had her as the baby
-
Hey everyone I know what this song means, you don't need to believe me but ts the truth. It's about RAPE.
Not with a mother it's about a little girl named Hannah.
listen to these words and you will notice...
That night he caged her.-->kidnap.
Bruised and broke her.-->beat her.
He struggled closer.-->force himself to her.
Then he stole her.-->stole virginity.
Violet wrists and then her ankles.-->tied up.
Silent Pain.-->she couldn't talk/scream. (but it hurt she was probably a virgin.)
Then he slowly saw their nightmares were his dreams.-->her nightmare of rape was really his dream.
Yeah that's rape, the song is about rape, now once again you don't need to agree with me, but that's what the song is about trust me :] -
I initially interpreted it as a rape thing too, like most posters here. Though I never thought about the last lyrics or who "Hanna" was or if there was a pregnancy. But the song was inspired by the book East of Eden by Steinbeck.
Apparently the beatings and such are based off of a sene in the book, and the kids in it are neglected by their dad because he found out about her "occupation" and left her. -
My best friend is a reader. Also a huge fan of Meg and Dia.This song was written by Meg after reading John Steinbeck's East of Eden. The main character is "monster" she gives birth to her child and shows no remorse,no pain. She is viewed as simply evil throughout- as I'm told..just read it.

I think it's about a child who grew up watching his father abuse his mother. Therefore, resulting in him growing up as an abuser as well.
-
I think...
The part "his tiny fist too feel something" is a child wanting to feel love, not anger or hurt.
and the "love me, love me" fits in with that too.
and the hole "silent pain" I know all bout that, its when you sit alone trying not too cry, wanting something anything to ease your never ending pain, cutting or drungs are often peoples "way out" but the part were it says "monster how should I feel, creatures ly here looking through the windows" too me that sounds like... when you look through the window at night, (at least for me) your mined can scare you...having confort/love would help you but since he didn't have any he couldn't do anything about it. He had no one to turn to for advice on anything or someone to tell him what to do... So he turnd to the only thing around...his monster.
"hanna's regret" that's his mom, regretting what she did too him just so she wouldn't be in trouble with that guy.
that guy wether he be a Boyfriend or Husbend, hurt her when he didn't get what he wanted when he wanted. and part of what he wanted was all her attention on him.
the rest of it you guys guess... and the hole bath tube thing........ I'm guessing she may have ended her life.
I maybe wrong :) -

Well I think it's about a girl who had a mother named hannah, and her father was the MONSTER. The monster does these tings to hannah and then he gets her prgnant and the child "hannahs regrets" is the artist. Then one day, the monster takes things too far and kills hannah. Then he regrets what he has dne and then kills himself by bathing in kerosene in the bathtub and the "full of fireflies are the matches he has to light himself. Then his action were put on himself just as he did to hannah.
-
Ok this is about a boy who is abused by his mom hannah and she called him monster as you can see it says I am hannahs regret and he was locked in a cage in the attic or basment and saw people through the windows and he never felt love He grew up and one day he saw this girl and he raped her and beat her because it says violet wrists and ankles and fell in love and it was the only time he ever felt love so he caged her and he didn't think it was bad because that's how he was raised as it says he slowly saw their nightmares were his dreams and how should I feel? ok this is what it's about its online

I know that Meg writes about literature and this song is based off of a book called East Of Eden. If anyone has read that it might explain something.
-
I think it's about a girl who had been in past relationships where she had been abused and then decided that it would never happen again. but then she got older and was raped and impregnated by her rapist. And I'm guessing her name was Hannah because in the song it says "I am Hannah's regrets" and then Hannah hates her kid therefore making them Hannah's regret.

I really like this song a lot it seems to have very strong feelings in it. There are many ways to interpret this song but my view of this song was that this girl in the song is singing about her parents’ relationship. Hannah is her mother, in the song it says “I am a glass child, I am Hannah’s regrets.” This tells me that Hannah’s mom was beaten and possibly raped and the girl was born or she just didn’t want her, either that or Hannah’s regret is her father. It’s hard to say but all I know for sure is that this song has a lot to do with abuse. By saying she is a glass child, it shows the girls delicateness.
To me this song was meant for teenagers since it talks about her parents and their problems/ her parents problems. All she really wants is to be loved but she is not, she faces a monster, and her father is that monster.
I don’t really think this song has a positive or negative message. Too me this song basically tells a story, a story about a bad child hood. I think for teenagers or just people in general who have gone through these types of things like this it is a very meaningful song. -
It's about a girl, hannah, who has an abusive boyfriend-guy, who rapes her, creating the little boy.
he hears him yell at her and hurt her, when he's still a baby. and the mom never gives him enough attention.
he is "hannah's regret".
then when he grows up, he wants someone to love.
so he falls for this girl, but she doesn't like him back.
he "struggled closer" for her love,
but she wasnt interested.
then one night he "caged her, bruised her, broke her".
meaning he took it too far, raped her, and killed her.
then he realizes he's turned out just like his father.
"he slowly saw their nightmares were his dreams".
the MONSTER was his father. Then he became the MONSTER.
its a really depressing song.
but you have to love it.
