Metallica: Loverman Meaning
Loverman Lyrics
(How much longer)
Bucking and braying and pawing the floor
Well, he's howling with pain and
crawling up the walls
There's a devil waiting outside your door
He's weak with evil and broken by the...

#1 top rated interpretation:If you listen to the lyrics and have any knowledge at all of the bible (I expect even Satan worshipers can catch the wording here that refers to the bible) then you would understand the song refers to the oldest battle to ever have been waged. Yes it's satanic. Yes it's from the view if Satan, glorifying himself with the same verbiage God uses...
"Take off that dress I'm coming down" -Christians are referred to as the bride of Christ
"I am that I am." - God refers to Himself as I am many times
"Render unto me that which is mine" - Jesus says render unto ceasar that which is Caesars and render unto me that which is mine
Seize the throne, the mantle, the crown" - I don't really think I need to continue here, you should get it by now....
God refers to himself as our lover, Satan makes a mockery of all he is and does
Therefore the song is about satan convincing us he is our true lover

#2 top rated interpretation:Loverman is spelled out pretty easily. Its mainly about lust. Its a guy who knows he's a bad person and is feeding off his newfound love for this new woman because he has never felt so compassionate or attached to anyone in his life... Trying to express that he wants to do EVERYTHING he can to please her, would do ANYTHING for her, even kill himself. and what better way for a devil to try and please a woman then in the bedroom?
great n sexy song to play while your in bed.. but be choosey who you play it for the girl will either love it and get crazy... or it will creep her out.

I think the band said what they were thinking and they were tired of just raging and girls were what they wanted.

it’s about a serial rapist/killer who has his own twisted view of love. In his version he is the victims loverman because they will never have another ever again.
He is compelled by a strong selfish lust and need to take what he believes is his to take. The victim need not reciprocate, he will do as he must, as he cannot stop it.
Simple as that really. -
I believe Loverman is about this older man who has done some pretty messed up stuff in his life. He was messed up from his past and everyone knew that, even the young, beautiful girl he fell for. He loved this girl and wanted her more than he wanted anyone, so he did whatever he could to get her. After awhile he befriended the girl, started hanging out with her and whatnot, but he didn't want to be friends, he wanted more. The song goes between reality and his fantasies... that's just my theory.

If you have ever dealt with severe addition, then you might get this. My interpretation is the addition as the lover man creeping in your life, seducing the victim, slowly until it is on you, never to leave, there to the end..

I think this song is a masterpiece for those who worship the devil & this is absolutely a satanic song. I think the loverman is the satan himself & as the song said human give him power with any sin & every time he wants more till the end of time and the empires burn down!! It is abvious that empires belong to God & he wants help from us to burn it down with every sin we make he become more powerful so beware & take care, GBA

It´s about a psychopath or maybe the insanity of love.
