Trapped Under Ice Lyrics

I don't know how to live through this hell
Woken up, I'm still locked in this shell
Frozen soul, frozen down to the core
Break the ice, I can't take anymore

[chorus:]
Freezing
Can't move at all
Screaming
Can't hear my call
I, I'm dying...

i thing its a refrence to cliff burton. as the lyrics say "Woken up, I'm still locked in this shell" as the bus fell over he woke up screeming impaled by the window while none heard his calls "Freezing, can't move at all Screaming, can't hear my call" "Crystallized as I lay here and rest
Eyes of glass stare directly at death"

I do think it's about sleep paralysis. I have it myself. Many of the things they talk about make perfect sense for this interpretation. "Waking up", they're talk of waking up in this hell. People either have sleep paralysis waking up, or when falling asleep. Also, when they say they are rapped up tight and cannot move, that is another symptom of sleep paralysis. Also, "can't hear my call" makes sense for sleep paralysis too because those experienceing sleep paralysis cannot speak or talk. And lastly they talk about being "at rest" which also aligns with having sleep paralysis. Just an interesting perspective I think.

I think it's about death and waking up in the second life only to find yourself trapped and frozen in your body holding cell ,

Woken up, I'm still locked in this shell
Frozen soul, frozen down to the core
Break the ice, I can't take anymore...

Then only to waken after death and your lock in this hell

Crystallized, as I lay here and rest
Eyes of glass stare directly at death
From deep sleep I have broken away
No one knows, no one hears what I say

Then only to realize that no escape and now this is your second life in hell.....

No release from my cryonic state
What is this? I've been stricken by fate
Wrapped up tight, cannot move, can't break free
Hand of doom has a tight grip on me

It is about how they could never get to #1 on the charts because Vanilla Ice had that spot

Social anxiety. Immobilized due cold of the world. Unable to break the ice. Unable to connect.

Metallica is singing about how the bad times have become so horrible that it feels like they are trapped in ice. Deep, down it's so cold and hellish but it has encased them in it. They try to break free, but can't. They don't know if they can live life anymore. Lost in the abyss of what is seemingly hell, it hurts them to live. Metallica has become so cold and their soul has become numb because of all the rough things they been exposed to.
