Mike Posner: I Took A Pill In Ibiza Meaning
Song Released: 2016
I Took A Pill In Ibiza Lyrics
To show Avicii I was cool
And when I finally got sober, felt ten years older
But fuck it, it was something to do
I'm living out in LA
I drive a sports car just to prove
I'm a real big baller 'cause I made a million...

Mike posner= Bojack Horseman
Both were stars, unable to have real connections or any happiness for that matter.

Its just all about money and fame are all waste without peace of mind along with society.
-
I think it has a deeper meaning then most people think, and it's about the downfalls of fame, and how being a singer might seem great, but you find yourself doing things to fit in, and struggle to trust or open up to anybody. The last part is him telling a fan that making it big isn't all it's cracked up to be.
-
Well, this is my interpretation.
The first verse talks about how he does stuff to fit in. I think we can all relate to this.
In the chorus, he gives us advice telling us we don't wanna be high like him. It may seem cool but when you 'step off the roller coaster' ie. run out of money, you're all alone.
In the second verse, he says he's blown his shot, messed up. His name is simply a reminder of a pop song people forgot. And he can't have long term relationships. He tells the girls he has to 'work' but it's really coz he has difficulty opening up.
In the last verse, he's returned home with only his guitar and his pride. His friends are gone. Some fans recognize him and ask him how to make it big. And here he gives the perfect ending. He looks them in the eye and says
"You don't wanna be high like me. Never really knowing why like me. You don't ever wanna step off that roller coaster and be all alone. You don't wanna ride the bus like this.
Never knowing who to trust like this. You don't wanna be stuck up on that stage singing. Stuck up on that stage singing. All I know are sad songs, sad songs. Darling, all that I know are sad songs, sad songs."
To me, this song seems like advice from a celeb of days gone by to people who are trying to be exactly what he was. -
This song is about his life and his one hit wonder song..
-
Mike Posner.Made the song on his life REALLY!!!!!!.
-
It means he traveled to spain and took drugs.
-
The song speaks of a man who was once a huge rock star. Eventually, he started his downward spiral: sleeping around, taking drugs, etc. Now, he's a washed out former celebrity. The end of the song speaks of how he told his fans that they didn't want to end up like him, sad and pathetic, with nowhere left to go.
-
I think that the meaning of this song is that just because celebrities are rich and famous doesn't mean that their lives are easy. Nothing that they do is hidden, they have no privacy, and no one knows what it's like to be them. Mike Posner really captures this life that so many don't know about.
