Oh Land: Perfection Meaning
Perfection Lyrics
by reflecting in someone else.
And who would've thought that I could
comfort your heart, when I can't recognize myself.
I know how she speaks and how she moves when she doesn't know what...
-
As a lesbian myself, this honestly feels like a song about a girl loving another girl that is close to her. But she doesn't know anyway to get this girl other than to observe her perfection and try to make herself as perfect as the girl she loves until she deems herself worthy.
-
To me this is a song about a woman who, in the attempt to win the heart of the man she loves, begins to imitate some of the mannerisms of his ex-girlfriend. But I think in doing so she becomes more obsessed with this man's ex-girlfriend and trying to become her than with the man himself. "Who would have thought that I could conquer your heart when I can't recognise myself" - she mimicked the woman to the point of losing her own self. Then the "you" in the chorus is the ex-girlfriend: "I'll follow you until I get your perfection" - she now views the ex-girlfriend as perfect.
-
I think this song is about two girls loving each other. Weather it's a sisterly love, a friendship, or two girls together In a relationship.
