ONE OK ROCK: Stand Out Fit In Meaning
Song Released: 2019
Stand Out Fit In Lyrics
Guess that I don't dress how they want
I just wanna be myself, I can't be someone else
Try to colour inside their lines
Try to live a life by design
I just wanna be myself, I can't be someone else
Someone...

To me it means you need to be yourself no matter who tries to tell you what. "Stand out, fit in" I think is like this person wants to be themselves but other people are telling them to fit in with everyone else. "I am who I am" means they're not gonna change no matter who tells them to.

To me, Stand Out Fit In means that if you want to Fit In, you need to Stand Out, even if it meant doing stuff that wasn't right. This hits me pretty hard, especially the word "stand out fit in" because when I was in primary I was basically a loner whose friends were just my cousins (well I don't even know if that still counts), but when I reached college I started to do stuff a little differently (even bad stuff)then what I did in the past and that kind of made me Stand Out here.

I think there is one person (likely the artist) at the center of this song. Their peers are telling them contradicting things. For example, we hear eat more, stay thin. I believe this person is feeling the pressure of carrying multiple peoples' contradicting expectations. To be important and noticed or to blend in and not embarrass yourself. My reasoning for this is 1. there is only one person singing and 2. I have been in situations like this where I'm told to be one thing by one person and another thing by another person, hence why I understand the song like this

I think the "Stand out, fit in" means this one person is trying to change things that this person doesn't want as a rule. Therefore, this person tried really hard to change the rules. "I am who I am no matter what" meaning that this person won't change who they are. "Big boys don't cry, shoot low, aim high" meaning is that young adult mens, adult mans, teenager mens doesn't cry, "Shoot low, aim high" meaning is that it's for you to prepare to fight or stuff to defend yourself. "Good girls don't fight, be you dress right, white tan skin" meaning that all girls have to be perfect and be pretty and wear dresses, "white tan skin" meaning that you must wear makeup. "Good girls don't fight" meaning that girls doesn't train to fight and must be "perfect and pretty".
The lyrics came in CLEARLY for me. "Stand out, fit in" the stand out is for you to break the rules and be yourself. The fit in is for you to be like the others who followed the rules, but this person chose not to follow the rules and decided to change things up even the rules.
