Jugband Blues Lyrics

It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear
That I'm not here.

And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the room could be so blue
And I'm grateful that you threw away my...

Ok. This song was written by Syd Barret when he was very depressed and losing his mind. He was depressed because he didn't want to become a huge star.

"It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear
    That I'm not here."

This means that it's very kind for the world to think of him as a huge star but he does not want to be.

"And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the moon could be so blue"

By "the moon" he means himself. now just replace the moon with "I," now its obvious isn't it?

"And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
And brought me here instead dressed in red"

By saying hes grateful, he's being sarcastic. By old shoes he means old life. and brought me here instead dressed in red. that just means what it says.

"And I'm wondering who could be writing this song."

He's wondering why he didn't quit the band already.

"I don't care if the sun don't shine
And I don't care if nothing is mine"

He doesn't care if the band isn't famous and he doesn't care if he's rich.

"And I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my loving in the winter."

    I don't understand myself... :P

    "And the sea isn't green
    And I love the queen"

This part is mocking most english singers who are all about english pride.

"And what exactly is a dream
And what exactly is a joke."

This means "Why do people want to be famous? it sucks."
