    Ben Cooper, who is the writer most of their songs and the vocalist, mentioned about how the theme of the album is ghosts and how when you live in a house you leave a ghost of yourself behind. I think this works also in how if you feel attachment to a person, you leave a ghost of yourself in that person and how we're all a part of everyone we feel a connection with. Also, i don't think you have to live in a house to leave your ghost in it either. I think when he says ghosts he means memories, so if you have memories inside of a house you have a ghost in that architecture.

    mostly its just important for me to point out that this song is not about a husband and wife as the artist is a gay man. heteronormativity huh.

    wife is depressed over losing her father..I see this as a suicide, wife survives, she is pregnant "I carved the apple from my eye and gave it to you before I went away".. the strum of the guitar is a heartbeat..he sees drs trying to save her, she is on life support "I hear the engines...I see the airplanes in your chest..."

    I believe this song is about a couple that attempts a double scuicide " so I pulled the trigger and we floated off " but the woman survives while te man successfully takes his life. The woman is being operated on, yet the man who has become a ghost Whatching her from above wants her to die so he wishes for her to die during the operation " they cut your eyes wide open, please don't let them in dear " the woman eventually survives and is told to forget the man. The man then comes to the realization that death will eventually come for the woman and they will be together once again.

    husband died (narrator) and he doesnt want "you" his wife to forget him but everyone is telling her to forget him
    ring rolling off means she does eventually forget about him but at the end he says just like everyone she will die too and they would be together again
