Rise Against: Nowhere Generation Meaning
Song Released: 2021
Nowhere Generation Lyrics
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat to the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we've been given
We speak a language you don't know
We are the nowhere...
-
The song is about the confusion that this generation faces, always being told that we are going to be the better generation, that we are going to fix the world, and as we grow up, this responsibility is shoved into our hands and we realize that we can't do it. We realize that what we have been told for years doesn't work anymore. That's what I interpret from the lyric, "but still we climb these burning ladders." The ladders represent the paths we are supposed to follow, the paths that out parents took, but as we climb, the path falls away around us, leaving us to make a new one.
