Sky Sailing: Alaska Meaning
Alaska Lyrics
-
I'm a Christian, first of all, and my interpretation is a Christian one. I feel like this song is about going through life, trying and yearning to accomplish something, when suddenly death reaches you, and it's unexpected and confusing. That would explain "When did I arrive? I never recall leaving Alaska." Also the lyrics "I was on the ground, when I recall the day, that my discomposure left me forever, and swept all my troubles away." seem to point at having so much on your shoulders, so much pain and work, when suddenly you die and, in a religious standpoint, go to heaven, where none of those problems matter anymore. The lyrics "It's so good to be home" also imply the gladness you will experience when you are finally in heaven (if you believe in God, which Adam Young/Owl City/Sky Sailing does). That is just my interpretation, and I understand if you don't agree with me.

I think this song is about Adam being under a lot of stress, but then something or someone relieving it. He starts feeling better, but hes still chasing a brighter day, but then he accepts that life isn't always perfect and where he is right now is just fine.
"somehow i believe that this is home...its so good to be home"
